Bharadi Devi Temple ( Anganewadi)

Anganewadi is one of the most famous village in malvan which located in the Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra state in India. Anganewadi village is most famous for its Bharadi Devi temple. It is one of the most popular temples in the Konkan (Konkan is a coastal line of Maharashtra state) and also called as Pandharpur of Konkan. In Maharashtra many temple's are called as a Jagrut Devasthan and Bharadi Devi is one of in that Jagrut Devsthan and also a well known deity for her wish fulfilling power. The most popular fair of Shree Bharadi Devi which called as Anganewadi Jatra is organized every year in February mouth. In this one and half day fair more than 2 lakhs people come's to visit this temple.

         For the fair there is no any fixed day or date. It is decided by consents. The method of arriving at concert for deciding the date of fair is very interesting. After all farming works are completed, the villagers get together to decide the hunting of wild animal to offer ‘Prasad’ to the goddess. All male folks go out for hunting a wild animal with a stipulation to not return till the animal is trapped down. The animal’s flesh is then cooked & distributed among the villagers who then decide a suitable day for fair.

         The venue of the fair you can be easily reached from Malvan which is just 10 km from Anganewadi. There are many traveling options available to reach Angnewadi. Nearest railway stations is Kankavli and Oros and if you are coming from Pune, Mumbai or Goa then you can stay at one of the hotels in malvan. There are many budget hotels are available in Malvan. Advance booking must be necessary in festival times. Because, crowd is enormous during these times. After visiting the fair you can extend your stay period for a day and enjoy beautiful sight seeing options of Malvan.

The Greatest worrior and Maratha king, Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj blessed this Fort with a Jaladurga in 1667, which named as ‘Sindhudurga’. The district has been named as a Sindhudurg after the name of fort. More than 350 years, this Fort is standing strong in the heavy tides of Arabian ocean. When you are in Malvan, must visit this Fort!.

CHIVALA BEACH

By Air : 
The nearest airport is Dabolim, Goa which at 186 km from anganewadi.
By Rail : 
Kankavli and Oros is a nearest Railway station to reach Anganewadi Temple.
By Road : 
Bharadidevi Temple (Anganewadi) is 10 KM from Malvan city and 33 KM from Kankavli. You can also choose State transport buses and cars from malvan and kankavli to reach Anganewadi.
