1. In Indian language Quechua, the "Machu Picchu" means "old mountain" or "old crop".

2. Machu Picchu is composed of over 150 buildings ranging from houses and baths to sanctuaries and temples.

10. Sadly, most of the cities created by Inca civilization were demolished after the Spanish conquest. But, Machu Picchu was built in a hidden place which was not possible to easily find out, this thing makes it one of the best-preserved Inca cities and an archaeological gem.

You can get a bus from Aguas Calientes to Macchu Pichu. There is a public bus departure area close to Plazaa Principal, which is the centre of the town and buses are available regularly. You can also book your bus tickets online from the official government website.

By Train
Perurail manages the trains from Cuzco to Machu Picchu. They offer 3 types of services to select from, with different prices. The trip normally takes 3.5 hours and you can book your tickets online. There are running 4 trains everyday and all depart early in the morning.
