Bibi ka Maqbara - Mini Taj Mahal of India

The Bibi Ka Maqbara is a mini Taj Mahal of India located about 5km from the Aurangabad city in Maharashtra. This was built by Aurangazeb in the memory of his wife Rabia-Durrani. This Tomb is a copy of Taj Mahal in Agra, it is also called as a mini Taj Mahal of India. Their is also a small archeological museum located behind tomb.

It is located in the center of the formally planned garden, in which there are fountains, axial ponds and water channels, many stones are defined by the screen and are outlined with extensive routes. The garden is surrounded by high red walls with fortress set at intervals, and open pavilions on three sides.

They've diminutive rectangular pavilions in red sandstone at their summits. There is a small mosque in the west of the tomb, with great worked arches and corner towers. Sunheri Mahal is also a great Mughal style building located at the north of Bibi ka Maqbara. it's main attraction is the patches of vintage painting and goldwork that decorate the walls.

Some lesser known facts about Bibi ka Maqbara

1. An inscription on the main entrance mentions that Bibi Ka Maqbara was designed and made by architect Ata-Ullah with engineer Hanspat Rai. Ata-Ulla was the son of Chief Designer of Taj Mahal, Ustad Ahmad Lahori.

2. The mausoleum was made between 1651 and 1661. The total cost incurred for its construction was Rs. 6,68,203 – 7,00,000.

3. Due to the similarity of Taj Mahal, it is called as Dakkhani Taj (Taj of the Deccan).

4. The marble used in the construction of this tomb was brought from the mines near Jaipur.

Via Flight
The closest airport is at Aurangabad, 11 kms. Aurangabad has an excellent national airport, that is nicely connected to main cities like Mumbai, Delhi & Hyderabad.

Via Rail
The nearest railway station is Aurangabad, to reach to the Bibi ka Maqbara, that is about 12 kms away from Bibi ka Maqbara.

Via road
You can use a public transport bus or alternative you can rent private vehicle, there are lots of tour operator you may avail carrier from. the other mean of transport is auto rickshaw, we recommend you to fix the tariff prior to hiring the auto rickshaw.

Getting around Bibi ka Maqbara
Panchakki is another interesting place to visit here, that's located about 5-6 kms from Maqbara. the other places to notice while traveling the region is Bhadkal Gate, Mehmood Darwaza (Gate), Kham Nadi (Kham River) Aurangabad Caves, Daulatabad Fort and many others.
