Croatia Tour | Destination Bucket

Croatia is a coastal country located in the western Balkans of Eastern Europe with a long coastline over the Adriatic Sea, it contains over a thousand of islands, surrounded by the Dinaric Alps. Its capital city Zagreb, is mostly known for its medieval Gornji Grad and diverse museums. Dubrovnik is the main coastal city of Croatia has the 16th century massive Old Town with Gothic and Renaissance buildings.

1. Dubrovnik
Dubrovnik known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” is a old city, which is one of the attractive places to visit in Croatia. Based at the southern shore of the Adriatic Sea, it was established in the 7th century on maritime trade. With orange rooftop houses, Dubrovnik offers many sightseeing treasures. In this historical district, the Old Town is filled with many historic monuments such as the old protective walls, cobblestone streets, stunning palaces and magnificent churches. There are also some famous beaches like Banje and Lapad, its nearest Lokrum island offers even more beaches.

2. Hvar
Hvar, One of the most popular place to visit in Croatia, located in the Adriatic Sea. This beautiful Croatian island of the Dalmatian Coast, well known for its spectacular beaches, lavender fields and vineyards. Hvar Town is a main and attractive city of Hvar, featuring 13th century walls, marble stone roads, Gothic palaces, churches and an old fortress. The largest and most beautiful town of Croatia, surrounded by many ancient building such as, the 17th century Arsenal and the St. Stephen Cathedral. The natural surroundings of Hvar offers plenty of outdoor activities, from hiking to swimming.

3. Plitvice National Park
This place is the most beautiful natural wonders to visit in Croatia, it encompasses some breathtaking lakes, waterfalls and lush green forest. The park’s most attractive features is the interconnecting 16 lakes which are split into upper and lower clusters. This beautiful park in Croatia surrounded by many waterfalls and the lakes with different range of distinct colors from turquoise, blue, green and gray. Visitors can explore the lakes and surrounding areas by walking or using a boat.

4. Split
Split, Croatia’s second largest city, which also Know as the “Mediterranean Flower,” is located on the Dalmatian Coast. The main attraction of this city is its beautiful Gothic and Renaissance architecture of the Diocletian’s Palace. This Roman Emperor Palace was Built between 298 and 305 AD, this Palace is like a small city in itself with a marble walkways and buildings containing shops, cafes and bars. The tourists can find lots of beautiful attractions to see here, such as Wandering along the seaside promenade, swimming in Bacvice beach and shopping at the Green Market.

5. Rovinj
Rovinj is located on the west coast of Istrian peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. This town is an combination of 20 islands with its Old Town set on a small peninsula. A narrow streets of cobblestone leads to the hilltop church of St. Euphemia, which filled with many stunning art works. the stairways, arches and other amazing architecture make the Old Town more beautiful and adventurous. Some of its historical attractions include seven medieval city gates and 12th century town clock. Also the scenic harbor, Carrera Street, art galleries and Grisia Street are worth seeing.

6. Zadar
This three thousand year old historic city of Croatia is based on the beautiful Dalmatian coastline which attract lots of tourists.  Zadar is a ideal tourist destination, because it offers some peaceful and uncrowded places to enjoy your vacation. This Old Town offers lots of beautiful sightseeing attractions such as Roman ruins, ancient architecture and old churches. Tourists can also feel relax on the beautiful beaches of Zadar’s coastline where they can take a sunbathe and swim.

7. Pula
Pula is situated on the south shore of Istria peninsula in the Adriatic Sea, it is a famous destination that attracting lots of tourists with their ancient Roman times architecture. Over the centuries, this city was ruled by many government powers and today's it is best known for its Roman ruins and mix cultures.

8. Korcula
Korcula is a birthplace of the famous merchant traveler, Marco Polo, this 30 mile (50 km) island located on the Adriatic Coast of Croatia. It is surrounded with lush forests, vineyards, olive groves, sandy beaches and beautiful villages. The major town of this island is historic Korucla Town, offers Venetian architecture, colorful shops and some tourist facilities.

9. Zagreb
Zagreb is the capital and one of the largest city of Croatia, it is a vibrant town filled with historic and modern attractions, based in northwestern Croatia. The city dates back to the 11th century when it was first established by Ladislaus, a Hungarian King. Today, this city is a cosmopolitan town and the heart of Croatian culture. The city is split into an Upper Town and Lower Town, here you can enjoy walk down on the cobblestone roads and also visit to the medieval churches or towers.

10. Krka National Park
This park is situated in the Central Dalmatia of Southern Croatia, which well known for the series of 7 waterfalls. it is a well protected area of beautiful natural surroundings, wildlife and historical sites. Based in Sibinik-Knin County along the Krka River, the karka national park is famous for its amazing waterfalls and natural pools of clear, blue and green colored waters, which are great place for swimming. This park is easily reached from Split, the national park offers well maintained walkways and boat rides for getting around.
