Ooty (Udhagamandalam) is a famous hill station in the Tamil Nadu state of southern India. It is surrounded by lush green trees and Ooty Lake is a best place to enjoy boat ride. On the slopes of Elk Hill, the beautiful Rose Garden attracts everyone with its over 2,000 varieties of roses. The 19th century Government Botanical Garden, features ferns, orchids and fossilized tree.

This stunning lake is located 28 km away from Ooty, Avalanche lake is a must visit destination when you are on Ooty Tour. This lake is based between the lush green mountains and landscapes which attracts every visitor. Avalanche Lake was created after a massive landslide somewhere around 1800s, that's why it's name is Avalanche lake. It is popular place for fishing and exploring a surrounding areas and its rare flora and fauna. Other popular activities which you can do here are camping, rafting and trekking to its hilly regions like, Upper Bhavani.
2. Ooty Lake
One of the most indeed place to visit in Ooty for every tourist, it is an artificial lake which was built for fishing purposes. This lake is also popular place for boating where anyone can enjoy a refreshing ride on its serene waters. There is also a boating house located close to the lake which offers a wide varieties of boats on rent. Cycling along the side of lake is also a best thing to do here.
3. Emerald Lake
This lake is located near Emerald Village in the Nilgiri District, Emerald Lake is based in the SIlent Valley. It is located around 25 km distance from Ooty. It is an ideal place for picnic where you can relax and spend some quality time with your friends and family. The surrounding Tea plantation area increase the overall beauty of the lake. The view of sunrise and sunset from this lake is worth to see.
4. Ooty Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens in ooty is Maintained by Horticultural Department of Tamil Nadu, this Botanical Gardens is one of the most popular places to visit in Ooty. It is spread over 55 acres area and divided into five different sections of gardens like Fern House, Lower Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory and Nurseries. The flower show is a major attraction of ooty summer festival which conducted here. Another popular attraction of this Botanical Garden is the unique Fossil Trees, which are around 20 million years old.
5. Deer Park
Deer Park is another best place to visit in Ooty which is located around 2 km distance from Ooty Lake, anyone can easily reach here by road. Its rich fauna with different species of deer such as Sambhar and Chithal, makes this place for an interesting to visit, especially for wildlife lovers. The Deer Park is spread across 22 acres of area and it was established in 1986. This place is known as wildlife sanctuaries of India, where you can get a opportunity to see the wildlife from closer.
6. Doddabetta Peak
This highest mountain is located at an altitude of 2623 meters in the Nilgiris. It is located around 10 km distance from Ooty. Covered by dense forest, this peak is a favourite spot of trekkers. The view from the top of this peak is absolutely stunning, there is also a telescope house on the peak with two telescopes provides amazing view of the valley around.

Mudumalai national park is located on the Ooty - Mysore route, Mudumalai National Park is another best place to visit for Nature lovers in Ooty. This national park has many wild animals and rich flora and fauna. It has now also declared as a tiger reserve as it is home of around 50 tigers. If you want to experience wildlife in Ooty then Mudumalai national park is best place for you.

This national park is a part of Nilgiri Bio reserve, here you can spend some good and memorable time among its scenic beauty and rich nature. This park is spread over 80 sq.km area, it has various rivers flowing through it, which attract many animals and birds to these sources of water. There are also a few watch towers available inside the national park.

Needle hill is located at around 8 km distance from Gudalur, this amazing view-point offers a stunning 360 degree view of the surrounding valley and areas. Gudalur is located around 51 km from Ooty,which is also known as Soochimalai. It is also a popular location for trekking. This view point got its name because of its shape looks like a needle. Here you can see the clouds meeting hills.

Ooty toy train is a part of Nilgiri Mountain Railway, this Train is a an unforgettable part of every Ooty Tour. This train runs from Mettupalayam to Ooty via Coonoor. The ride in this historical toy Train is a very amazing experience which you can't get in any other train ride, when this train passing through lush green landscapes and breathtaking nilgiri mountains. This train runs on a 46 km track with first class and second class coaches, you can choose any one of them.
