Accident happens everywhere in the world, every day we hear about some small or big accident happening in some parts of the world. But some of them are not forgettable, here are some accident happened in history of the world, in which many people lost their life and it also damaged billions of dollars.

1. Chernobyl disaster, 1986 - Lost 200 billion dollars
This incident happened on April 26, 1986 in Ukraine, all world witnessed the most expensive explosion  in the history. The Chernobyl disaster is widely considered to be the worst nuclear power plant accident in history and is one of the level 7 incidents on the International Atomic Program Scale. In this incident over 200,000 people were transferred to other places, while 1.7 million people were directly affected by the disaster.

2. Space Shuttle Columbia Explosion, 2003 - lost $ 13 Billion
The Space Shuttle Columbia Explosion happened on February 1, 2003. It was the first space shuttle in NASA's orbital fleet and the total cost of this accidents according to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautica Sciences was estimated at $ 13 billion, all seven crew members in the space shuttle are killed in this accident.

3. Prestige Oil Spill, 2002 - Damage $ 12 Billion
The Prestige Oil Spill was happened of the coast of Galicia, Spain, due to the drowning of an oil tanker. On November 13, 2002, the 26 year old MV Prestige Oil tanker ship which carrying 77,000 tons of heavy fuel oil was drowned during a storm in Galicia.

4. Space Shuttle Challenger Explosion, 1986 - Damage $ 5.5 Billion
The Space Shuttle Challenger Explosion was occurred on January 28, 1986, when the Space Shuttle Challenger (Mission STS-51-L) broke apart 73 seconds after its flight, it was exploded due to some defect in the O-ring, which causing the death of seven crew members. In this seven crew members five are NASA astronauts and two payload specialists.

5. Piper Alpha Oil Rig, 1988 - lost $ 3.4 billion
The Piper Alpha disaster happened on the Aberdeen coast of Scotland is the world's oldest oil rig accident. Piper Alpha Oil was the world's largest producer of oil that time, because it was can produce over 317,000 barrels of oil per day. As a part of regular maintenance on July 6, 1988, a fire broke out from the 300-foot platform, within 2 hours. In the end, it killed 167 workers.

6. Exxon Valdez oil spill, 1989 - Damage $ 2.5 billion
The Exxon Valdez oil spill occurred on March 24, 1989, in Prince William Sound, Alaska. Exxon Valdez was one of the giant oil tanker carrier, which carrying 11 million gallons of oil was drowned and polluted the water, it spread its oil to the Alaska Bay. It is considered one of the most destructive man-made environmental disasters.

7. Andersen Air Force Base B-2 accident, 2008 - lost $ 1.4 Billion
This accident was happened On February 23, 2008, the B-2 stealth heavy bomber crashed on the runway immediately after takeoff from the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. The Investigators concluded that, it was happened because of single mistake in computer system control. This is one of the most expensive aviation accidents ever happened in the world.

8. Train collision in Chatsworth, 2008 - Damage $ 500 million
The Chatsworth train collision happened on September 12, 2008, when a union Pacific freight train and metrolink commuter train collided in Chatsworth district of Los Angeles, California. This was one of the worst train accidents occurred in the history of California, in which 25 people were killed.

9. Explosion of tanker truck at Wiehltal Bridge, 2004 - loss $ 358 million.
On August 26, 2004, a 32,000 liters fuel tanker truck crashed with a car on the Wiehltal Bridge in Germany. As a result, the explosion destroys the bridge and it was one the most expensive accident in the history of the Federal Republic of Germany.

10. Titanic sink, 1912 - loss $ 150 million.
The RMS Titanic is probably the most famous accident in history. The accident happened after colliding with an iceberg on October 15, 1912. The Titanic sank drowned into the ocean on its first visit to the New York City from Brighton. In this incident, More than 1500 people are died and it still considered one of the world's most shocking accident happened in the ocean.
