India is a country where friendship is highly valued and Indians are very friendly with tourist. But, this is not necessary in every part of India. There are many people living in different parts of the country which can be dangerous for tourist. Recently, one american tourist was killed by the people of a tribe living in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands who don't like outsiders coming to their land. They don't care who they are or where they from and don't like to contact with outside world. Now this place became one of the most dangerous places in the world to visit in India, which is called as Sentinel Island where the tribes still live like an old stone age peoples.
The American tourist John Allen Chau went to that dengerous and prohibited sentinel island illegally and tried to make a friendship with them. John thinks that he would tell these tribal civilizes about Jesus and attracts them towards Christianity. John gave 25,000 rupees to the fishermen so that he could illegally take him to the tribals land. The fisherman stopped boat at some distance from that island and from there John reached to that island through his kayak. On the first day he returned, but on the second day John did the same thing and this time he did not come back. The fisherman saw on the island that John's dead body was being dragged by the aborigines.
Not only the Sentinel tribe of Andaman but there are many such types of tribes which don't care about outer people and these tribes have been declared as unsafe by the government.
The actual number of tribal people in Andaman is still unknown and no one has been able to reach there. Sentinel is not the only Indian tribe who is danger for tourist or going to them is to invite death. There are only five protected tribes in Andaman. Let's know about them.
Sentinel tribe
So far you will have understood about this tribe that how dangerous it is and why outsiders are prohibited to go there. At the time of tsunami, the Indian Coast Guards had tried to send food packets to the tribes civilization, but that time the local tribals attacked the flying helicopter with spears and arrows. According to Indian law, no any person can go on the island of this tribe. Many attempts were done to join them, but it is not right for the tribe to join with the common people and they kill any person who visiting their island. Sentinel is now one of the few selected tribes in the world, which does not contact to the outside world and which are really dangerous for common peoples.
Jarawa tribe
The Jarawa tribe is based in the Andaman Islands of India. They live in parts of South and Middle Islands of Andaman and their population are estimated between 250 to 400 individuals. The Jarawa tribe has now started to contact with the external world. They give some things to eat who visit their land and ask women to dance with them. This tribe is considered dangerous because in past days they attack on outsider peoples to eat, but now they like to seeing new people and spending time with them.
The tourists see them as like any human safaris, but they are not protected and others do not accept them. These tribes was considered to be quite dangerous before, but after government made a road in their area, they got a opportunity to get out and connect with new people. But, still these people are considered to be the center of just and just ridicule.
Onge tribe
This is another tribe of Andaman which is protected by the government of India. This tribe has been protected from long time and hence everything is available to them from ration to health services and these tribes can easily communicate with the outside people. They live in small part of Andaman Island about 100 km from Port Blair, the South Bay and Dugong Creek of Andaman are safe areas for living these tribe and common people are not allowed to go there. People need to get permission from the government to go there, which do not get easily. These tribes depend on hunting of wild animals. The permission to go to that tribesmen area is not easily available for everyone and their population is now between 100 and 150 inhabitants.
Jangil Tribe
Jangil tribe were called as Rutland Jarawa and live in some extremely dense forest areas of Andaman Island. They mostly used Rutland Island as their home land and that's why they were called Rutland Jarawa. The Jangil tribe was associated with the neighboring Jarawa tribes. The outsiders were contacted by these people for only a short period of time and last time they were seen in the year 1907. After that many times tried to find them, but didn't get any marks of their existence and anyone didn't know anything about where they gone. After that, this tribe was declared extinct. It is believed that the real cause of their extinction is sickness.
Shompen Tribe
This is a tribe which has probably changed itself the most and now it's becoming a part of our developing society. But, this civilization has still preserved many of its cultures. The language of Shompen people, their dressing style, dance and many things in which there is not much change. This tribe was contacted for the first time with outsiders in the 1840s. In 2014, this tribe was firstly brought together for voting. This means that the modernization of this tribe has also happened recently.
According to the census of 2001 around 300 people of this tribe are present. The people of Shompen tribe can be considered as the most friendly with common people and that's the reason, this tribe mixed easily with anyone and it is very easy to go here.
There are many tribes living in the Andaman and nicobar islands which are still not been discovered and travelers are requested to don't go to that areas which has been prohibited to visit by the government, have a safe journey!.
