7 Most largest palaces or castles in the world

Palace is a grand royal residence, which reflects the power and prosperity of a monarchy. The palace word is derived from Latin word Palatium, which used for Palatine Hill in Rome. A list of the world's seven largest palaces is given in the following.

Himeji Castle

Himeji Castle is considered to be the most beautiful Palace in Osaka, Japan. It is one of the few palaces that escaped from civil war, earthquakes and world wars. This palace was built for the first time in the 14th century on the present site and was gradually extended for centuries. The palace complex, as it is today, was completed in 1609 and spread over the 41,468 square meters area.

Spis Castle

Spis Castle is located in eastern Slovakia and it was strengthened by stone walls in the early 13th century and middle of the 15th century. It is situated in beautiful rural areas on 49,485 square meters and is often used as a place for movies. Spis castle was included in the list of World Heritage Sites (UNESCO) in 1993.

Hohensalzburg Castle

Hohenselzburg Castle is located in the Austrian city of Salzburg. This amazing castle was constructed in 1077 on a small hill at an altitude of 506 m in Austria. It is one of the most largest historic castles in Europe, which spread over the 54,523 square meters area.

Windsor Castle

The Windsor Castle is often called as the largest residence palace in the world, which spread over 54,835 square meters of area and is certainly one of the largest castle in England. It is one of the official residences of Queen Elizabeth II, which spends many weeks in the palace. Windsor Castle is used for both state and private entertainment. You have to buy tickets for entering inside the Castle and plan your visit.

Prague Castle

The Prague palace was built in the 9th century and was extended several times from the second half of the 18th century. There is a complex place of many different places including the St Vincent Cathedral and Basilica of St. George in the palace. It is used as official office of the President of the Czech Republic. It is spread over 66,761 square meters area in Prague, Czech Republic.

Mehrangarh fort

The Mehrangarh fort can easily be considered as the Indian palace. It is located at a height of 122 meters (400 feet) above the city. It has surrounded by the 36 meters high and 21 meters wide walls and to enter you have to cross seven gates. The fort was initially built in 1460 by Jodhpur founder Rao Jodha. This fort is spread across the 81,227 square meters area and it is listed in one of the largest forts in India.

Malbork Castle

The world's largest Palace Malbork Castle is located in Poland. The construction of the castle was began in 1274 by Teutonic Knights and was completed in 13th century, which also used it as its headquarters to help to defeat Polish enemies and rule over their northern Baltic areas. It is considered as the most largest castle in the world, which spread over 143,591 square meters area of land and it is also listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
