Du-Khang

This is a main assembly hall of Alchi temple and entrance of the Manjushree temple, where the monk performing their worship and rituals. It has one of the most oldest structure present in the shrine. The classic architecture of the temple is made from basic wood frame and it is still preserved. Later in the 12th and 13th centuries, some additional works were also done. The Wheel of Life and Mahakal are the spectacular landmarks of Du-Khang.

Sumsteg

Sumsteg Monastery is one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Alchi. It is just made of natural soil and stone and how strong it is that you can know with its still in existence. The centuries old monastery also includes handicrafts and paintings, which are made by Kashmiri artists. This part of the monastery was built in the 13th century. Apart from this, the thing that attracts most of tourists is its textile prints that shows the life of Buddha, which enhancing its beauty here and further.

Manjushree Temple

Compared to Sumsteg and Sumada assembly hall, Manjushree Temple, which also known as Jampa Lhakhang, is came into existence in approximately 1225 A.D. Like Sumsteg monastery there are also a paintings, but that paintings are not natural. For visitors it is a outstanding experience to visit this magnificent temple.

By Air
Leh Kushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport is the nearest airport of Alchi village which provides regular flight services for important places like Delhi, Jammu, Pune and Srinagar. Many airline provides their service to reach here. like, Air India, Jet Airways and Go Air are some of the best airlines providing their world class facilities.

By Train
The nearest railway stations of Alchi are Dehra Doon and Chandigarh. There are continuously running trains for the different parts of the country from the railway station. The regular buses, cabs and taxi are available from the railway stations to reach your destination.

By Road
Alchi Monastery is a part of Alchi village. Alchi is a district of Jammu-Kashmir, which is 70 km away from Leh. You can easily reach Alchi from Leh by getting any taxi or public transport to reach here.

Which weather is right to go there?

Alchi has to face many problems related to weather. There is a cold gathering in winter and sometimes weather is good in summer. The rain continues throughout the year and temperature fall in the night in the summer season. The best time to visit Alchi is from June to September.
