1. Vatican City
The smallest country in the world, Vatican City, is a city-state surrounded by Rome, capital of Italy with a geographical area of 44 hectares and has a population of approximately 1000 people. Vatican city is a headquarter of the Roman Catholic Church and home of Pope. Vatican City has no airport or highway. There is a heliport in Vatican City, which is used by the Pope and the state's major tour.
2. Andorra
Andorra is a tiny country situated between Spain and France in the Pyrenees mountains. It is the largest country in this list, where no any airport. Andorra is well known for its ski resorts and a duty-free shopping. The size of Andorra is approximately 468 square kilometers and its population was 85,000 by 2012. The nearest major airport is Barcelona-El Prete in Spain and Toulouse in France. The airport in Toulouse and Barcelona are both 3 hours' drive from Andorra.
3. Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein is a German speaking landlocked country, which is located between Switzerland and Austria. It is known for its medieval castles, beautiful landscapes and villages linked with a network of trails. Vaduz is a capital and financial center of Liechtenstein and also a home of modern and contemporary art. The geographical area of Liechtenstein is 160 square kilometers and its estimated population is 35,000. The nearest major airport to Liechtenstein is Switzerland's Zurich Airport, which is 130 kilometers away from it.
4. Monaco
Monaco is tiny independent city-state situated on the mediterranean coastline of France and know for its grand casinos, yacht-lined harbor and adventurous Grand Prix motor race. It also has many luxurious hotels, boutiques, restaurants and nightclubs. Monaco is surrounded by France on one side and on the other side is Mediterranean Sea. Monaco is the second smallest country in the world, whose geographical area is just 2.02 kilometers and its population is 38,695. The nearest airport to Monaco is the Cote d'Azur Airport in France.
5. San Marino
San Marino is a landlocked mountainous micro state surrounded by North and central Italy. It is well known for its medieval walled old town and cobblestone narrow streets. The San Marino area is approximately 61 square kilometers and its population is more than 30,000. The nearest airport is the Federico Fellini International Airport in Rimini, Italy.
